Star Pals: Privacy Policy

Last updated: 7 October 2026 · App: Star Pals (Android, package com.adrivermaak.starpals) · Developer: Adri Vermaak (South Africa)

The short version: Star Pals does not collect, send or share any personal information. There are no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. Everything a family enters stays on their own phone or tablet.

Who the app is for

Star Pals is a picture-based routine and reward app for young children (about 3 to 8) and their parents or carers. A child ticks off everyday tasks (like brushing teeth or getting dressed), earns stars and looks after a cartoon pet. A parent sets it up in a parent area protected by a PIN.

What is stored, and where

All of the following is stored only inside the app's private storage on the device. It is never sent to us or to anyone else:

We (the developer) have no server for this app and no way to see any of this information.

What we do not do

Voices and sounds

The spoken words in Star Pals are recorded audio files bundled inside the app, so they work offline. If a parent chooses to use the phone's own text-to-speech voice in the parent settings, the words are spoken by the text-to-speech service already installed on the device; Star Pals only uses voices that are installed on the device for this.

Internet permission

The Android app package declares the standard internet permission because the app framework (Capacitor/Android WebView) expects it. Star Pals does not use it to send or receive any personal information, and the app works fully offline.

Backups

Star Pals turns off Android cloud backup for its data, so nothing is copied to a cloud backup by the app. If the app is uninstalled, its data is deleted from the device.

Deleting data

Because there is no account, there is nothing for us to delete on a server. To remove a child's information, open the parent area and remove the child profile, or clear the app's storage in Android Settings, or uninstall the app.

Children's privacy

Star Pals is designed for children and complies with the Google Play Families Policy. Because the app collects no personal information from children, there is nothing to disclose to third parties. Parents stay in control of everything through the PIN-protected parent area. This approach is intended to meet the requirements of South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), the US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the EU/UK GDPR.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date. If the app ever starts collecting information, this page and the Google Play listing will be updated first.
